About the Institution

Govt. Polytechnic, Gulbarga is a technical institute offering three years diploma course. The Institution is under control of Department of Technical Education Government of Karnataka approved AICTE. The institution is an oldest technical institute in the field of technical education. The institute was established in the year 1952.

Introduction:

         The Government Polytechnic (Autonomous) is under control of Directorate of Technical Education, admissions to Diploma courses in Karnataka. As regards to the admissions to the diploma program ours is one of the online interaction admission center has been set up by the DTE to take up this online admission task. All the latest information about admissions to diploma programs are available in the website of the DTE.

Admissions to Diploma Program: 

Admissions to Diploma Program are done by the online interaction admission center under the control of DTE. The admission process usually starts with the issue of the notification for admission by the DTE in leading news papers of the State. The advertisement generally appears in and around the dates of announcement of Secondary School Leaving Certificate results conducted by the State Govt. It may be some time in the last week of April or First week of May or around that period. The announcement is also made on the website of the DTE.

Applications:

Applications for admission will be available in all the offices of Government and aided Polytechnics of the State. The applications may be purchased in any polytechnic and sent to any other Nodal center polytechnic. Photo copies of the applications will not be considered. Only single application is common to get seat of any branch & any college in Karnataka at the time of online interaction only as per seat selection method. But you should attend the online interactive as per schedule at any one of the online interactive counseling center along with all necessary original documents. 

Admission Procedure:

           Admission to diploma courses is based on merit in each category of reservation. Out of the total seats 50% of the seats are reserved for various groups of the society. Remaining 50% of the seats are allotted based on the marks scored in the SSLC for technical Courses.

Diploma in Civil Engineering – 3 years (6 semesters)

This course aims at producing highly qualified, efficient technicians capable of meeting the requirements of the basic level of the Civil Engineering field. During the course of study, the student is exposed to various subjects of Civil Engineering such as Planning, Drafting (both manual and computer –aided), Surveying, Estimation & Costing, Construction Technology, Basics of Highway, Railway, Bridge, Airport, Tunnel and Harbour Engineering. The course also offers adequate exposure to Reinforced Concrete Structures, Quality Control, Material Testing, Construction Management & Entrepreneurship, Professional Practice and Office Procedures. Students also get a feel of Extensive Survey, Building Drawing, Irrigation & Bridge Drawing and Structural Engineering Drawing. Students are also exposed to software like AUTOCAD & STAAD. 

Diploma in Computer Science Engineering: 3 years (6 semesters)

The students are exposed to Basics of Computers, Microprocessor, and software like C, C++, Java, VB, LINUX, Database Management Systems, Web Technology, Multimedia and the latest .NET software. In addition they are also exposed to PC Hardware, Maintenance and Networking.

Diploma in Electronics & Communication: 3 years (6 semesters)

“Electronics is the brain of Modern Technology”. Even the computer is an electronic device. It is an evergreen subject that provides opportunities for technicians in following areas of Engineering like Maintenance & Service, Research Assistance, Production Control, Quality Control and Marketing.

Diploma in Electrical & Electronics: 3 years (6 semesters)

The Students are exposed to various subjects of study such as Drafting, Wiring, CAD, Power saving and Power Control, High Voltage Engineering, Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Utilization. There are plenty of openings for Electrical Diploma Holders. The Diploma Holders find openings as Maintenance Engineers in industry and commercial buildings.

Diploma in Information Science: 3 years (6 semesters)
